interview #2 (grandma)

How were u as a person before the invasion
Before the invasion, I didn’t have much patience, but after, the invasion taught me that patience is key. I grew so patient and I am till this day a very patient person.
How was your relationship with the Iraqi people before
Kuwait was very close with Iraq. We helped them with allot and our rulers were close as well. We were so close to the point were people married from Iraqi’s and had family members from there. But personally I wasn’t close with them as I didn’t have any friends or family from there.
Did u ever expect that someday Iraq will invade Kuwait?
They did threaten us for the oil for a few months but we didn’t expect any action to occur since we had a good relationship with the Iraqi.
Did the relationship with the citizens change?
Before the invasion, the people of Kuwait were so close, you would walk around the streets, and say hi to everyone, whether you knew them or no. you would be afraid that someone would harm you. But after all that happened with the invasion, you wouldn’t just walk out and answer to any stranger, you wouldn’t say hi to everybody, you aren’t really that close with everybody. Kuwait is still a safe country but after the invasion, everybody just got extra careful.
Do you think they would be close again?
I don’t think that it is possible but if it were, that would be hard.
Do you think there was a change in practicing your religion before and during the war?
Not really since we were already close with god before the war we did everything we were supposed to do and more because we love our religion, the only thing that we did that was “extra” was that we prayed to god to keep us and our country safe.
Do you have the resources you had before the invasion during the invasion?
Yes we had a few but the main problem was that there wasn’t electricity all the time.
What things did you have before the invasion and lost during the invasion?
Sadly, I lost allot of pictures, jewelry, and cars, we were about to loose our homes when we were going to Saudi but thankfully we came back in time.
What developments are there compared to before the invasion?
One of the main developments was having sirens every now and then for safety issues , after the invasion there were a lot of damages especially in desserts that’s why the government prohibited people from going there.
Did these developments effect the way we live now?
These developments are still helpful because it raised awareness for many people.
